"Independence Rock, WY This granite monolith sits in the Independence Rock State Historic Site in central Wyoming. The rock served as an important landmark for those travelling west via the Oregon Trail in the middle of the 19th century. The rock derives its name from the fact that it lies directly along the route of the Emigrant Trailand that emigrant wagon parties bound for Oregon or California, which usually left the Missouri River in the early spring, attempted to reach the rock by July 4 (Independence Day in the United States), in order to reach their destinations before the first mountain snowfalls. John C. Frémontcamped a mile below this site on August 1, 1843, and made this entry in the journal of his 1843-'44 expedition. Fremont carved a large cross into the rock monolith, which was blasted off the rock on July 4, 1847 by some among hundreds of California and Oregon emigrants who had gathered on the site.[5] Many Protestants considered the cross Fremont carved to be a symbol of the Pope and Catholicism. John Frémont was actually a member of the Episcopal Church (United States)."

Travelled into South Dakota to visit Mount Rushmore

"Crazy Horse Monument. It depicts Crazy Horse, an Oglala Lakota warrior, riding a horse and pointing into the distance."

"Mount Rushmore National Memorial, SD This famous United States monument in the Black Hills of western South Dakota depicts the busts of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The 60-foot tall statues are carved right into the side of the mountains"

Bonus location by the tour, Bear Country, a drive-through park featuring North American wildlife roaming free in their natural habitats.

"Devils Tower National Monument, WY This massive monolith in the Black Hills of Wyoming was the nation's first national monument, anointed by Teddy Roosevelt in 1906. In recent years, climbing the rock has become popular. The stone column is considered sacred by many Native Americans. It rises dramatically 1,267 feet (386 m) above the surrounding terrain and the summit is 5,114 feet (1,559 m) above sea level."
